Executive Director, Humphrey Mitchell, of Peel Children's Centre, the core sponsors of this year's summit to open the Summit.

Humphrey was recently described by his Senior Management Team:

“For well over 25 years, Humphrey has been broadly recognized for his steadfast commitment to the field of children’s mental health, fuelled by his passion for achieving better outcomes for children and families who struggle with mental health challenges. He is a leader among leaders, and the benefits that have accrued to the field of children’s mental health and to the children and families served by Peel Children’s Centre are undeniable.”

We are honoured and humbled by the support of Humphrey and the Peel Children's Centre and welcome him as our Honorary Master of Ceremonies.

Morning Consultation with the Ministry of Child and Youth Services

The morning sessions will be dedicated to providing consultation and input to the Moving on Mental Health Team from the Ministry of Child and Youth Services.  A focus of transformation for this team is meaningful input and engagement of families and youth who are recipients of child and youth mental health care services.  Through consultations such as these, families are given a platform to directly speak to the Ministry and utilize their lived experiences within the system to make recommendations for meaningful change.

This opportunity for families in Ontario is key and will be a key element in ensuring that family voice is not only heard, but influential to the changes that are coming to the way services will be delivered for our children and youth.

Afternoon Breakout - Speaker's Bureau Training

Have you ever thought - I wish I could tell my story to teachers, members of parliament, community agencies, hospital staff, public so that they would understand what it is really like to raise a child with a mental health disorder? Do you have ideas about who should hear these stories?  Do you want to be involved in an education and awareness movement that will bring about positive change to how children and youth with mental heallth disorders and mental illnesses are viewed and treated?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop is for you.  We will go through what it means to be involved in the PCMH Speaker's Bureau, provide you with a "presenters kit" and train you in a PCMH Presentation that embeds your story and brings your lived experiences and expertise to life.  After completion of the workshop, you will be included in our roster of speakers and be eligible to attend further training workshops, consult in development of new workshops, and be scheduled to give presentations across the Province representing PCMH and the family voice.

Annual General Meeting

This year we are trying something new.  Often it is difficult to get our membership and key groups together to attend our Annual General Meeting, the yearly opportunity for you to have a voice in the organization, and learn more about the operations.  Once registered for the Summit, you will receive the Agenda of the AGM and procedures.  We are looking forward to expanding our conversations with our membership.

I just wanted to say thank you to you and the governing body at PCMH. The newsletters are an important source of knowledge and support. I have found that this journey in … Member, St. Thomas
